Hardshell ski jackets
You can find the value of water column in the description of the product. The water column indicates how waterproof the fabric is. The higher the value of the water column the more water pressure a jacket can withstand before it soaks through.
Breathable jackets will allow perspiration to escape, without becoming damp and cold. The higher the breathability the better moisture will be transported to the outside.
Is it going to be a bad weather during your winter holidays? Then you should wear one of our hardshell ski jackets. This type of jacket will give you the best protection from the elements. Hardshell jackets are not insulated but they provide a shell protecting against rain and wind. They consist of 2 or 3 layers:
- 3L: This jacket consists of an outer layer that is glued together with a membrane. There is also a lining that is bonded to the membrane (lining is not an insulation). All three layers are glued together creating one laminate. This type of jackets is extremely durable.
- 2L: In this type of jacket, the outer layer is bonded to the membrane but the lining (which is not an insulation) is not glued to the membrane but hangs loosely inside the jacket. 2-layer jackets are usually cheaper and more comfortable.
During bad weather conditions a hardshell jacket is more suitable than a softshell jacket. Hardshells are waterproof and windproof, so they are perfect for extreme weather conditions. Apart from that, they are breathable. Take into consideration that hardshell jackets are not stretchy, so keep that in mind when you choose your size.
